Popular Park Recovering From The Flood

When the 2013 flood tore through the Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park in the Thompson Canyon west of Loveland, it destroyed more than 50 memorials located within the park.

But upstate New York sculptor DeWitt Godfrey told the city's public art commission at its Feb. 7 meeting that he wants to create a public art piece that will honor and continue the spirit of those memorials by “providing a place of memory and contemplation.”

New Northern Colorado honor flight being organized…
High Plains Honor Flight to focus on Vietnam veterans.

When Gloria Atteberry finished her military service in 1970, after spending more than four years in the Navy during Vietnam, she faced hostility and discrimination from the general public.

Last September, when she was one of 123 veterans to go on Honor Flight of Northern Colorado's final flight to Washington, D.C., she couldn't believe the fanfare she and the other veterans received.
